Larry Belcher, 77, of Kingsport went home to be with his Lord on Saturday March 23, 2019 at The Holston Valley Medical Center. Larry was born in McDowell, West Virginia to the late James Frank and Bertha Belcher. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force. Larry began his walk of faith with his Lord Jesus Christ in 1972. That walk led to his faithful membership and service at Colonial Heights Baptist Church and currently Tri-Cities Baptist Church. His relationship with Christ was never more evident than during his illness. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller, and was currently working part time for Washington Consulting Group at TRI training future controllers. Larry was an avid Amateur Radio Operator under an Amateur Extra Operator Class with call sign K4CL, originally N4OI. This hobby led to many lifelong friendships and allowed him to share the love of Christ around the world. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandson Adam Foster Laughrun. Those left to cherish Larry’s memory include his loving wife of fifty-four years Sue Fleming Belcher; daughters Terri Belcher Vaughn and husband Mike; Jennifer Belcher Laughrun and husband Mike; grandchildren Josh, Joseph, Noah, Olivia, Abby, Mya, and Maleah; sister Patricia Jones Hudson; niece Kim Smith and family; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carmon and Nancy Patrick; nephews Kent, Scott, and Dru Patrick; many special friends and grand dog Vegas. The Belcher family will gather to greet friends and share memories from 12-2pm Wednesday March 27, 2019 in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services. The funeral service to honor Larry’s life will be conducted at 2pm with Rev. Michael Laughrun officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Garden of Last Supper in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pall bearers.The Belcher family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the third floor at Wilcox Hall Oncology/Hospice, along with the doctors and nurses of Holston Valley ICU.
