Launa Lorraine Lawson, 78, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Wexford House. She was born May 16, 1938, in Fall Branch, TN to the late, Wilson and Opal Roberts Light. Launa was a loving and caring mother and grandmother whose greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and listening to Gospel music. She was a graduate of Fall Branch High School where she played basketball and attended the Baptist church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lawson; one sister and four brothers. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Robin Lawson Dowell Shortt (Leon); sons, Ricky L. Lawson (Jewel), Jeffrey A. Lawson, Timothy B. Lawson, Michael R. Lawson (Amy) and Gregory D. Lawson (Susan); nine very special grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. It was Launa’s request to be cremated and for her family to have a private service at a later date. The care of Launa Lorraine Lawson and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
