Laurel (Lori)
I've been searching for my favorite Aunt Sue for a long time. I lost track of her as a teenager when she left Oklahoma, around 1974. It's so sad that I didn't catch up earlier. I hope she had a good life!
Some of my memories of her:
We looked enough alike that even though she was five years older than I was, I could borrow her picture ID as a teen and get into places I shouldn't have gone!
One time when I visited Grandma Pearl and Grandad and Aunt Sue in Shawnee when she was about 13, she was supposed to take all the bags of garbage or yard waste out for collection. Grandad sat on the front porch and instigated. The house was on a corner with no fences. As she took the bags out, I snuck around behind her and brought them back, around the house in circles, as the sun set, trying not to let her see me, and being egged on by Grandad. Her pile wasn't getting any smaller! We went around about three times before she started trying to chase me down! That really was on Grandad. She was his baby girl.
I remember her listening to Wooly Bully by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs on the radio and watching Herman's Hermits on the Ed Sullivan Show, sitting on the couch, hugging a pillow. She got me started on rock and roll! (I actually have tickets to Herman's Hermits when we finally can get it rescheduled.) Wish I'd been able to meet up with her and get caught up. So many years to cover! Now it'll have to wait a bit more.
