Lou Jean Gibson Gilliam, 75 of Kingsport passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 17, 2018.Lou was born on October 30, 1942 in Scott County to the late Dudley and Dora Mae Collins Gibson. She resided in Kingsport most of her life. Lou was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.In addition to her parents, Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Gilliam; grandson, Jeff Amyx; great-granddaughter, Megan Amyx; sisters, Mary Rogers, Myrtle Gibson and Tinsie Wheat; brothers, A.G. Gibson, Carson Gibson, Sylvester Gibson.Surviving are her sons, Harold Gilliam and Jim Gilliam (Norma); daughters, Louise Gibson and Arlena Carr; grandchildren, Casey Carr, Aaron Carr, Tony Amyx, Rhonda Blakely, Christy Belle, Jerry Gilliam and James Gilliam; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Mae Linkous and Trula Woods; aunt, Tinsie Wheat; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.The Funeral Service will follow at 5 pm with Pastor Donald Madden officiating. Joann Compton and Donnie Derrick will provide music.The Graveside Service will be held at 3pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 in the Garden of the Last Supper, Oak Hill Memorial Park.Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family would like to thank her caregivers, Patricia Sloan and Shanika Webb for the care and compassion shown during this difficult time.The care of Lou Jean Gilliam and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
