Marian Lucille Jackson TootleJuly 19, 1933 – March 1, 2019Marian was born in Springfield, Missouri, where she played with her siblings and cousins on her grandfather’s farm, and enjoyed the love of a large, extended family.As a teenager, she moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she was very active in the Amarillo Golden Sandstorm (“Sandies”) band, and the local USO. After some college, she moved to NYC, and then Washington, DC, to work for Japan Airlines. When she met her husband, Clyde Tootle, she became a full time mother for the next several decades.Family was her greatest joy. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Iva Jackson, her brother Ray Jackson, her sister Carole Jackson Dennehy, and her oldest son David Clyde Tootle. She is survived by her brother Thomas Jackson, of Cleveland, Ohio.She leaves behind a family who miss her dearly. One son, Mark Tootle, and his wife Lois, of Mooresville, NC, with their daughters Ami Nicholas, of Atlanta, GA and Lauren Tootle, of Murfreesboro, TN. Five daughters: Karen Tootle, of Tampa, FL. Adrian Cassady of Kingsport, TN, her daughter Leslie Cassady, also of Kingsport, TN, with Jesse and Jesse Glen Bledsoe. Lynda Waldron, of Palm Harbor, FL, her son Paul Waldron and his fiancé Mandy Harrell, of Spring Hill, FL, and their sons Zeke and James. Amanda Barnette, of Kingsport, TN, and Melissa Tootle of Palm Harbor, FL with her daughter Christina Clark of Ft. Myers, FL, and Christy’s son Liam.After her children were grown, she spent many years working at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport for over fifty years. For the past year, she very happily resided at Brookdale Assisted Living, where she enjoyed her time with her two best friends there, Helen and Dorothy.She will be missed terribly, and we hope she will be remembered as a kind and decent person who cared for everyone she met, and loved her family above all.The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00 pm with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.Due to inclement weather, the Committal Service will be held in the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am Friday, March 8, 2019. Mrs. Tootle will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Section N.The care of Marian Tootle and her family have been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
