Marlene McConnell, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Brookdale, Colonial Heights with her loving husband by her side. She was born January 21, 1942, in Rogersville, TN to the late Dewey and Martha Love Snyder.Marlene was a loving, caring and positive lady who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was an avid UT football fan and was an accomplished bowler.She was a committed Christian who enjoyed studying her Bible and was a fervent “prayer warrior.” Marlene was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where she was active in the Women’s Sullivan County Jail Ministry.Marlene retired from Holston Defense Corporation as Traffic Coordinator following thirty-five years of service.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Barnes.Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of seventeen years, R.V. McConnell; daughter, Kim Mayhew (Jerry); son, Steve Hicks; grandchildren, Braeden Shelton and Brennan Mayhew; step-children, Tim McConnell (Wendy), Julie Bass (Tim), Jason McConnell (Kristin) and Mark McConnell; step-grandchildren, Abby McConnell, Jenna McConnell, Brooke McConnell, Laura Harper, Benjamin Harper, Morgan Harper, Joshua McConnell and Kaleb McConnell; nieces, Lani Baxter and Billi Akins; special friend, Vivian Brown.The family will receive friends Friday, August 9, 2019, from 5:00-6:45 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Angie Carswell.A Graveside Service will be conducted Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:00 am in the Garden of the Last Supper at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
