Edith Sparks McCracken, 95, of Mount Carmel, TN, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Nova Health & Rehabilitation Center, Weber City, VA. “I am tired, I am weak, I am worn. Take my hand precious Lord lead me home.” She was born May 4, 1923, in Scott County, VA to the late John S. and Myrtle E. Sparks.She was a graduate of Dungannon High School and following her graduation she moved to Kingsport to work at the S.H. Kress Store. She retired from Eastman Kodak Company June 1, 1983, following over forty-one years of service.Mrs. McCracken attended Stone Drive United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Kingsport Rebekah Lodge #17, Fairview Chapter #80, O.E.S. and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She served in all offices of the Kingsport Rebekah Lodge and several offices of the Rebekah Assembly before becoming President. She also served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militants. She had a passion for traveling.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. McCracken; sister, Ruth Taylor; brothers, Claude, Ellis, Eugene, John Jr. and Cecil Sparks; special nephew, Steven P. Sparks.Those left to cherish her memory are her special niece, Bernice T. Jones; special great-nephew, Randall Jones and his wife, Kimberly, and several other nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 24, 2018, in Section B at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
