Michael Robert Sykes

Michael Robert Sykes, 72, of Kingsport passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022.Mike was born on August 8, 1949, in Kingsport, TN to the late Robert and Beulah Sykes, and he was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam.Mike enjoyed golf and knife collecting, and he retired from Tennessee Eastman after 36 years of service.He has been reunited with his true love, his wife of 35 years, Sandy. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.Other than his parents and his wife, Mike was also preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Benjamin Sykes; daughter, Sarah Sykes; brother, Ronald Sykes; brother-in-law, Gene Gillenwater; and dear friend, Wayne Jennings.Those left to cherish Mike’s memory are his sons, Baxter Sykes (Charlotte) and Bryce Sykes (Lisa); daughter, Suzanne Fenters (Justin); grandchildren, Sidney, Austin, Savannah, Ashlee, Mike, Sam, and Ben; sister, Sue Gillenwater, sister-in-law, Dorothy Sykes; and several nieces and nephews.All services for Mr. Sykes will be private.To share memories and condolences with the family please visit www.oakhillfh.comThe care of Michael Robert Sykes and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.Read Obituary
