Ola Clemons Hoover, 88, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center.She was born in Bulls Gap, TN and moved to Kingsport at an early age. She was a 1947 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a graduate of Kingsport Business School. She spent most of her life in Kingsport but also lived in Longview, TX and Whitehaven, England.She married Roy Hoover on September 1, 1949. She worked as the school secretary for Andrew Jackson Elementary School, an executive assistant at Holston Defense and lastly, as a tax preparer for H&R Block for over 2 decades. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church of Kingsport.An avid and skilled golfer, she won many golf tournaments including one when she was six months pregnant with her second child. She loved to share stories of playing a variety of golf courses in the U. S. and Europe with her husband, Roy and their friends as well as stories about the many trips they took to the Masters, U.S. Open and the British Open.Though she was the first to note she never liked to cook, she made a fabulous apricot nectar cake, an incredible 7-layer salad, and sausage biscuits & gravy that would sustain you for days.She enjoyed the many friends she made the last few years at Preston Place Suites. The family is grateful for the care she received there.She was proceeded in death by her husband, Roy Hoover; son, Scott Hoover; and parents, Doyle and Joda Clemons.She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Jones (Darryl) of Kingsport, TN; son, John (Johanna) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Meredith (Adam) Coleman of Denver, NC; Brian (Gaby) Jones of Washington, DC; Bailey Jones of Memphis, TN; and great grandchildren, Liam and Connor Coleman as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.The family will receive friends from 1pm – 2 pm on Tuesday, July 31st at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Funeral Service will follow with Rev.
