Penelope "Penny” Dexter Roberts, 57, of Kingsport, passed away on March 18, 2022, at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall, Kingsport, TN.She was born on April 22, 1964, to Jimmy and Doris Dexter. Penny was a beloved teacher in the Sullivan County School System. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. Penny was an animal lover, loved to travel and loved the beach. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend to many.Penelope is survived by her loving daughter, Hannah George (Ashley); parents, Jimmy and Doris Dexter; special cousin Kimberly; and friend, Frances.She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Dexter.Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services, Kingsport, Tennessee. The Funeral Service will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Jack Edwards and Rev. Ms.Roberts was always my favorite teacher. She somehow found a way to make science class fun for me. I remember her saying when writing in our morning notebooks "don't just put idk, you do know something no matter what it is you may have learned." She was always the smartest one in the room (even though it was only a room full of fifth graders). I asked her one time why we only discovered so much in our world and she told me "there is still so much out there, maybe you'll be the next to learn of a new wonder." Rest in peace Ms.Roberts, and love to all of your family.

Penny and I were best friends when we were teens. We both got older, and drifted apart as sadly friends do sometimes. I will always have so many fun memories of our childhood friendship and she will always hold a special place in my heart. My heart goes out to her daughter and her parents. Dorris and Jimmy were always so good to me. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers 🙏💗
