Randolph “Randy” Nalepa, 66, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at his residence. He was born October 30, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Rudolph and Agnes McCarra Nalepa.Randy was a loving and plain spoken man who was especially fond of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching old movies, driving through the mountains of East Tennessee and searching for fossils and oil.Randy graduated from Ursuline High School, Youngstown, Ohio and later graduated from Youngstown University with a B.S. Degree in Geology. He later earned his Master’s Degree and Doctorate of Petrophysicist and Geology from T.C.U., Fort Worth, Texas.He began his career as a Geologist with Texaco and retired from Conoco-Phillips following over sixteen years of service.Mr. Nalepa was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army obtaining the rank of Captain and a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Kingsport.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Hightower and his brother, Richie Nalepa.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Peggy Lewing Nalepa; daughter, Brenda Lasson; sons, Daniel Lasson (Wendy) and David Lasson (Laura); grandchildren, Jacklyn Lasson, Shelby Corbett, Courtney Mahle, Timothy Hett, Brittany Lasson and Jackson Lasson; great-grandchildren, De’Angelo Beswick, Elijah Beswick, Owen Hett, Wyatt Corbett and Ryker Corbett; sister, Laura Hall; brother, Russell Nalepa.A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Kingsport.The care of Randolph “Randy” Nalepa and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
