Henry Ray Fletcher, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Ray graduated from Ketron High School in 1959. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard for six years. Ray retired from Eastman Chemical Co. after 30 years of service.He was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. Ray had many hobbies such as building and flying remote control planes, an interest in making and displaying pyrotechnics, hunting, fishing, football, studying American History and archeology.He had a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes. Ray always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his great love and devotion to his family.Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alice Fletcher and brothers, Bill Fletcher and Howard Fletcher.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Malinda Fletcher, daughters, Carol Haynes and husband, Ron and Rita Tilley and husband, Bryan; son, Mike Fletcher and wife, Darlene; grandchildren, Kevin, Jessica, Eric and Mikey; several nieces and nephews.Private Family Military Graveside Rites were conducted Wednesday, June 10, 2020, by the American Legion Post #3 and Post #265, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Everlasting Life. A Eulogy was given by Ray’s son in law, Dr. Bryan Tilley.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, online at www.stjude.org/ or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Hagar, Dr. Emery, Dr. Byrd, Dr. Shipstone, and all the nurses at the Cancer Center. Also, a special thank you to the nurses at Ballad Hospital, Jessica from Home Health, Dr. Neglia and nurses, Martha, Jackie, Tina and Beverly from Suncrest Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Ray’s friends that called or came by to visit.The care of Henry Ray Fletcher and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
