Richard "Dick" Smith

Richard “Dick” Smith, 82, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clyde and Ada Lewis Smith.Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who always put his family first. He enjoyed studying Genealogy, watching movies, eating out and reading Action/Adventure books.His employment history included serving four years at the Cleveland Trust Society Bank, eighteen years at White Motor Corporation and he retired from the Cleveland Clinic.Mr. Smith proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was a Mason.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Joan Carol (Smith) Wilson.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Jennie Lee Smith; daughter, Debra Jean (Smith) Boiciuc (Radu); son, Jeffrey Clyde Smith (Kathleen); grandchildren, Timothy Andrew Gable (Robin), Kathryn Elyse Gable (Jake), Zachary Richard Gable (Tara), Ryan Olivia Smith and Jack Emerson Smith; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Lincoln; niece, Judith Lynn Simon; nephew, Ralph Olaf Jacobson.The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 am at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 11:00 am by the Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688 in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.A Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation. Serving as pallbearers, Jeffrey Smith, Tim Gable, Zach Gable, Jack Smith, Radu Boiciuc and Ralph Jacobson.The family extends a heart-felt thank you to the medical staffs of HMG, Holston Valley Medical Center, NHC and Advanced Home Health for their excellent care, compassion and dedication.The care of Richard “Dick” Smith and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.Read Obituary
