Ruby Carolyn Blackwell

Ruby Carolyn Blackwell, 81, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Ruby was born on September 22, 1937, in Benton, Tennessee to the late Raymond and Leona Cross. Ruby was a very hard worker, and she enjoyed working in her yard. Above all, she loved raising her boys and spending time with her family. Ruby was employed by the Kingsport Press. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Those left to cherish her memory are husband of 63 years, Elmer Blackwell; sons, Elmer Blackwell, Jr. (Phyllis) and Johnny Blackwell (Melinda); grandchildren, Kristie, Steven, Matthew and Heath Blackwell; great-grandson, Aiden Blackwell; brothers, Willy Cross (Peggy) and Bob Cross; sister, Judy Paron (Winston); several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 17, 2019 in the Garden of the Last Supper of Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Ballad Health for their compassionate care of Ruby.
