Sandra Moore, 78, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 11, 2021, at her home. She was born March 15, 1942, in Kingsport, to the late William and Virginia Wilson Holtzclaw.Sandra was a loving, kind, creative and artistic lady who brightened the lives of those around her.Sandra earned her Master’s Degree in Reading from E.T.S.U. where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, art, making jewelry and was an accomplished glass artist. Sandra received the TN Art Teacher of the Year Award in 1993 and also received the Margaret Ayers Award at Sevier Middle School.Serving the Lord was her greatest joy in life and Sandra was a member of Heritage First Church of God where she had served as Chairman of the Education Committee. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Moore, Jr.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Marceia Holland (Andy); son, George “Mo” Ray Moore III; grandchildren, Nathaniel Black, Bronwyn Jackson and Kat Cartier; great-grandson, Charlie Chandler; sister, Leta Gillespie; brother, Eddie Holtzclaw (Pam); sister-in-law, Joy Moore; six cherished nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Heritage First Church of God, 470 Rock Springs Rd, Kingsport, TN with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following at the church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Heritage First Church of God, 470 Rock Springs Road, Kingsport, TN 37663 or World Vision, P.O. Sandy and I were roommates in Stone Hall and sorority sisters in Sigma Kappa. After college, we drifted apart a little, but I was proud to reconnect with her a few years ago and we attended one of the sorority retreats in Gatlinburg - and we were roomies again!!! I loved her sweet soul.

I just now heard of Sandra Moore's passing. Even though she was only 13 years older than me, she was my 5th grade art teacher. She was one of my favorite teachers ever. She made art so much fun and helped each student find their personal art skills. Years later I was connected to her again through the friendship of her son and my daughter. She was a good hearted person and always made me feel so welcome in her home. My heart breaks for her children, family and friends. Heaven has to be a sweeter place with her there.

I moved to this area 7 years ago and Sandy and I attended Heritage First Church of God together. Although it was such a short time it seemed a lifetime because of the friendship we forged. I miss her so very much but I know she is with the Lord we both served together and I’ll see her again one day. I’ll will continue to pray for her family that she loved so dearly.
