Shirlene Sams

Shirlene Sams, 85, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.She was born September 9, 1936, in Elizabethton, TN to the late Doc and Louise DeLoach Lyons.Shirlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family.Her hobbies included bowling, gardening and working in her flowers.Shirlene was a born-again Christian and member of Springdale Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, Shirlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Sams; sisters, Blanche Bishop, Rose Guess, Mary Nell Oliver and Delia Mae White; brothers, Jim Lyons, Nathaniel Lyons, Alfred Lyons and John Lyons; grandson, Joey Inscoe.Those left to cherish Shirlene’s memory are her daughters, Teresa Joseph (D.J.), Leona Jones (Rick), Barbara Kinsler (Eric) and Melissa Sams; son, Jeff Sams (Angie); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Michael Boggs.Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park.
