Shirley Rutherford Lady

Shirley Rutherford Lady, 87, of Bristol Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2019.Shirley was born August 1, 1931 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to the late Floyd and Lovely Rutherford. Shirley enjoyed ceramics, wildflowers, nature walks at the Weir dams, making baskets, and watching birds. Among her greatest joys were helping others and being surrounded by friends and family. She was preceded in death by husband, James Harold Lady, and brother, Herbert Rutherford. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Lady and his wife Wanda; her daughter Susan Holtz and husband Mark; grandchildren Megan and Eric; niece Ann Stang; and nephew Wayne Rutherford. Shirley loved her many dear friends including Joyce Oakley and the Tickle family.Shirley’s family will receive friends at 325 Rutherford Lane, Bristol, Tennessee, on February 27 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Per Shirley’s wishes, no formal services will be held.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Addilynn Memorial United Methodists Church, 3225 Avoca Rd, Bristol, TN 37620, where Shirley was a member.The family extends our sincere thanks to the Cambridge House for care and love shown to Shirley.
