Stan Wells, 70, of Kingsport, TN went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones.Stan was born in Panama on March 20, 1949, but he had lived most of his life in Kingsport. He attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD., and he served his country in both Germany and Texas. He was a member of the Senior PBA (Professional Bowlers Association), and Shades of Grace United Methodist Church.He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Wells and an infant sister.Those left to cherish Stan’s memory are his mother, Shirley Blackburn; step-father, Bird Blackburn; daughter, Jessica Gasteiger (Harrison); three grandchildren, Trey Gasteiger, Olivia Gasteiger, Luke Gasteiger; brothers, Steve Wells (Susie); Alan Wells (Brandi); several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2020, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Will Shewey and Pastor Bill Porter officiating.Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 at 3:00 pm in Section E of Oak Hill Memorial Park.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the V.A. Such a sad day … Stan was a wonderful man and I have so many good memories of him. He was a great help and wonderful coach and helped me greatly over the years. I will dearly miss him, and I am praying for his family and for all of us who knew and loved him!!
