Stella "Joan" Hurd

Stella “Joan” Hurd, 84, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.Ms. Hurd was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.She loved serving the Lord and spending time with her family and friends.Ms. Hurd was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Sarver Riffe; her sisters, Frankie Perkins and Ava Cook, and her brother, Larry Riffe.She is survived by her daughters, Joan Leonard, Jeannie Moody and husband, Robert, Judy Hobbs and husband, Gale, Janice Hurd and Jill Hurd; her sons, James Hurd and wife, Sharon, Johnny Hurd and wife, Rhonda and Joseph Hurd and wife, Laura; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Clara Jackson and husband, Buddy and Gail Riffe, her brother Gary Riffe and several nieces and nephews.A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremations Services.Ms. Hurd will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill IV Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association online at www.billygraham.org or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St., Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.orgWe are so thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the love, grace, and mercy He has given our mother.
