Susan Elizabeth Anderson

Susan Elizabeth Anderson, 97, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 24, 2022, surrounded by her family.Susan was born in Johnson City on May 9, 1924, to the late Marvin Lee and Myrtle Greene Collins. She was a member of Gravely Baptist Church since 1958, serving as a Sunday school teacher, women’s missions director and sang in the choir. She was a seamstress most of her life and loved making crafts. Susan was a devout Christian who loved God and her family. Her heart’s desire was to be a blessing to everyone she met. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anderson; daughter, Carolyn Sakowicz; and siblings, J.C., Charlie and Lilly, Wanda and Woodrow; and sister-in-law, Francis; brothers-in-law, Jesse Hoilman and Kyle Anderson; sons-in-law, Lee Cato and Charles Rothwell; in-laws, Myrtle and Edward Anderson.Left to cherish Susan’s memory are her daughters, Linda Rothwell and Norma Cato; son, Bobby Anderson (Nancy); granddaughters, Stephanie and Leah Amber Sakowicz and Myla and Mattea Anderson; grandson, Gene Cato (Linda); great-grandson, Bryson Basham; great-granddaughter, Haleigh Greene; sister, Elaine Hoilman and brother, Howard Collins (Mary); and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Gravely Baptist Church. A Celebration of Susan’s Life will follow at 7:00 pm, with Pastor David Salley officiating. Music will be provided by Wayne Bledsoe.Graveside Services will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Monday, January 31, 2022, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet graveside at 2:45 pm.Pallbearers will be Johnny Jones, Bobby Anderson, Mike Collins, Zac Collins, Jim Kilgore, Bruce Earick, Terry Anderson and Vernon Patrick.
