Thelner Overbay

Thelner “Dale” Overbay, 73, of Church Hill, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.He was born in Kingsport and had lived in Church Hill for the past eleven years. Mr. Overbay retired from AFG Kingsport Plant after 38 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Church Hill. He enjoyed antique cars, especially his ’53 Ford truck, camping and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Jo Overbay and his parents, Thelner and Georgia Myers Overbay. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Peters Overbay; several cousins and an aunt, Jean Myers Overbay.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Gary Gerhardt and Rev. Bobby Branch officiating.A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Last Supper. Pallbearers will be Tom Carroll, Robbie Branch, Herman Dobbs, G.B. Seal, Kermit Housewright and Jeff Parson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Church Hill, P. O.
