Vance H. Pope, 91, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Holston Valley Hospital after a period of declining health.He was born in Blountville to the late Lloyd and Della Mae Browder Pope and had lived in Kingsport most of his life.Mr. Pope served in the U. S. Army/Air Force. He retired from Tennessee Eastman as a Chemical Operator after 33 years of service.Mr. Pope served as a Water Commissioner for the Bloomingdale Water Department for many years.He was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN.Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ruth Martin Pope; sister, Margaret Myers (Claude); brothers, Emmitt Pope (Anna), LeRoy Pope (Nancy), Ray Pope (Helen) and Ralph “Buster” Pope; brother in law, Archie McLain and step son in law, Mitchell Guy.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 8 years, Gerldine Livesay Pope; son, Paul J. Pope; step son, Sammy Bowen (Anna); step daughters, Eva Campbell (Brian), Jewel Guy, Melissa Ferguson and Donna Carter; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; loving brother, Gene Pope (Ez); loving sister, Fannie McClain; sister in law, Delores Pope; and 31 nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 6:45 pm Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremations Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel with Mike Bays and Pastor Will Schrivner officiating. Music will be provided by the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church Choir and Marsha Mullins.Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 23, 2019, by the American Legion Post #3 and Post #265 at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Resurrection. Pallbearers will be Mike Owens, Gary Frazier, Ronnie McClain, Fred Allison, Tom Jayne and Chris Carter.
