Rev. Virgil R. Anders, 81 of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 15, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.Virgil was born on May 24, 1941, in Erwin, TN, to the late Cecil and Caroline McVay Anders.He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.Virgil served Rock City FWB as pastor for over 20 years and then led the adult Sunday school class and occasionally preached at Vision FWB. He was an avid Tennessee Vol Football fan and was always known for his kind spirit and his love for God and his family.In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Anders and daughter, Shona Marie Anders; and grandson, Shawn Anders.Left to cherish Virgil’s memory are his wife of 59 years, Helen Smith Anders; daughter, Lori Fish; son, Tony Anders (Susan); grandchildren, Halayna Barnett (Mark), Ashton Anders, Brittany Fish and Tiffany Fish; great-grandsons, Ezekiel and Ezra Barnett; sisters, Barbara Gotwalt and Juanita Brodbeck; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 pm, Friday, July 22, 2022, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.A Celebration of Virgil’s life will begin at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Chad Riner and Pastor Gary Calhoun officiating.Graveside Services will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper at Oak Hill Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virgil’s honor to Visions FWB, 1108 Saratoga Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.The family would like to thank the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice for the care provided to Virgil and the family.Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.oakhillfh.co.The care of Rev.
