William I. "Bill" Head Jr.

William I.“Bill” Head, Jr. 66, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born August, 22, 1952, in Kingsport, to the late William Iverson Head, Sr. and Mary Helen Ware Head.Bill was a 1971 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and earned his B.S. Degree in Psychology from E.T.S.U. in 1978.Bill enjoyed reminiscing about the old days and listening to the music of the 60’s and 70’s. He was a history buff and an avid collector of old coins and old stamps. Bill enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, fishing and he was especially fond of lighthouses, old ships and animals. He was intrigued by ghosts and the paranormal.Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and an avid Georgia Tech and Atlanta pro sports teams fan.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Landon Head; maternal and paternal grandparents.Those left to cherish his memory are his special friend, Joy Hudson Rhoton; sister, Connie Head Toohey and husband, Mark; brother, Alan Head; several nieces and nephews; other special friends, David Cathey, Wally Pridgen and Donna Carter.A Graveside Service will be conducted Sunday, June 23, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
