William T. Rogers

William T. Rogers, 83, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his residence. He was born June 22, 1934, in Scott County, VA to the late Bert and Allie McDavid Rogers.William was a quiet and reserved man who loved to laugh and have a good time. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching sports and playing cards. He was a retired carpenter. William was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Rogers; sisters, Edith Sanchez, Jean Morelock, Maxie Lane, Gladys Calhoun, Lou Laney and Georgia Waddell; brothers, Bert, Jesse and John Rogers.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Mildred Houseright Rogers; son, David Lee Rogers; daughters, Pattie Jane Rogers, Amy Bailey (Bobby) and Andrea Presnell; sister, Reba Hartgrove; sister-in-law, Myrtle Rogers; brother-in law, Eugene Sanchez; several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2018, from 1:00-2:00 pm at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Daryl Houseright officiating.Military honors conducted by The American Legion Hammond Post #3/#265 will follow in the funeral home chapel.The care of William T.
