.Woody Fleenor was born Monday, October 26, 1925, in Kingsport, TN and died on August 1, 2019, at the Veterans Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN.His parents, the late Josie Roller and Stuard J. Fleenor, preceded him in death as did his sister, Mrs. Edward L. King (Shirley).This loving uncle is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Fredrick H. Knack (Shirley), Wytheville, VA, and Mrs. Frank K. King, Jr. (Phoebe), Hixson, TN. Other survivors include one great-nephew, Fredrick H. Knack, Jr. (Fritz), Charlotte, NC; one great-niece, Kathryn K. Hagwood, Esq., Wytheville, VA, four great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece.He was a lifetime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, American Legion Hammond Post #3, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Air Force Association and several automobile clubs.He graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School with the Class of 1944, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps at age 17 during World War II, serving in England and Europe. For many years he lived in Pinellas County, Florida (Clearwater and St. Petersburg) where he worked with the National Safety Council, Pinellas County Chapter as a Program Director. In his field of safety, he received many awards but most cherished the TORCH AWARD for 1987 and the accompanying title, "Mr. Safety of Pinellas County Florida".He was employed by Mickey Smith Auto since 2004 and valued that friendship. Our special thanks to Mickey Smith, Jo Zimmerman, Randy Still and his special friend and caregiver, Steve Johnson, for the love and care they gave him over the years.Because there will be no family gathering following the ceremony, please attend the calling hours if possible. As Mr. Fleenor had not lived in his home for several months while hospitalized, the family will not be accepting any food offerings. Flowers for the funeral or a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated.Calling hours are from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019, in the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.A Military Graveside Service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.The care of Woody Fleenor and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services.
