Carl "Big Al Bass" Shockley

Carl “Big Al Bass” Shockley, 62, of Church Hill, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at his residence after a period of declining health.He was born in Kingsport and had lived in Church Hill for the past twenty years. Big Al formerly worked at Wal-Mart (Stone Gate) as a greeter.For many years he was a manager in local wrestling venues. Big Al also had a passion for music and played the bass guitar locally for many years. He enjoyed photography and loved his pets.He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Shockley and sister, Sharon Shockley.Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shannon Shockley; mother, Iona Shockley; ex-wife, Melissa Shockley; sister, Donna Monger and husband, John; two nieces; a nephew and several cousins.The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:00 pm with Joe Broadwater officiating.A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, September 16, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Meditation. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
