Clarence “ED” Galloway, 76, of Mount Carmel, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a long illness.He was born in Kingsport and had lived in Mount Carmel since 1973.Mr. Galloway served in the U. S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a former employee of Mason-Dixon and AFG Glass Plant of Hawkins County.Mr. Galloway enjoyed go cart racing with his son, Eddie, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very devoted and loving husband, daddy and papaw.He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Stella Lloyd Galloway and two brothers, Jerry Galloway and Louis Galloway.Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Sybil Jeanette Galloway, whom he truly adored and loved; son, Eddie Galloway and wife, Peggy; daughter, Michelle Woods and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Ashley Proffitt and husband, Jordan, Cody Woods, Allison Galloway and Brandy Woods; sisters, Debbie Starnes and husband, Gary, Louida Edens and Louise Cress; brother, Junior Galloway; several nieces and nephews his favorite feline friend, “Tiger.”The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel or anytime at the residence of his daughter, Michelle Woods, or his son, Eddie Galloway.A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mike Stout officiating. Music will be provided by the True Faith Quartet.The American Legion Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 will conduct Military Entombment Rites at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Oak Hill Mausoleum.The care of Clarence “ED” Galloway and his family has been entrusted to Oak Hill Funeral and Cremation Services.
