Peggy Jean Payne

Peggy J. Payne, 89, of Kingsport, left to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, with her family by her side.Peggy was born in Scott County, Virginia to the late Flernoy and Estelle Williams. She had worked for North Electric and Pit Stop Lounge. Peggy loved people, and she was a friend to everyone. She was kind, generous and a very devoted mother and grandmother.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, John D. Clonce; and seven siblings.Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Elizabeth Gail Johnson (Phil); sons, Jerry Clonce (Teresinha); John Mark Clonce (Tonda); granddaughters, Kim Charles (Gill), Valerie Simpson (Jason), Tonya Lindsey (Mark), Tasha Killman (Michael); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2020, in the Fireside Room of Oak Hill Funeral Home.A Committal Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Oak Hill Funeral Home Portico with Pastor David Salley officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Wexford House and to Kim Bowman with Ballad Hospice.To leave an online condolence for the family please visit www.oakhillfh.comThe care of Peggy J.
