Ralph T. Edwards

Ralph T. Edwards, 86, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab. He was born September 10, 1933, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Homer and Florence Edwards.Ralph was a loving and gentle man whose greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed traveling, coin collecting, antique cars and was an avid NASCAR fan.He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Blacksburg, VA and the Antique Automobile Club, Kingsport.Ralph was in the banking industry for many years and retired from the F.D.I.C. His work with the F.D.I.C. took him to the New England states where he grew fond of the area, especially the state of CT.He was a committed Christian and member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.Mr. Edwards was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Edwards.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Gelene Edwards; children, Steven Edwards, Kim Edwards and Carol Edwards; grandchildren, Blake Dingus and Brayden Dingus; brother, Russell Edwards and his wife, Mary Jane; several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends Thursday, February 27, 2020, from 10:00-10:45 am in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.The Entombment & Committal Service will follow at 12:00 pm in the Chapel Mausoleum at Oak Hill Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Church Hill Health Care & Rehab for their compassionate care of Ralph.To leave an online condolence for the family please visit www.oakhillfh.comThe care of Ralph T.
