Ronald M. Holt, 77, of Johnson City, TN passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1941, in Greeneville, TN to the late George and Sherley Holt.Ronald was a Christian gentleman who had a big heart. He lovingly cared for his wife, Shelby during her illness for over twenty-five years.Ronald enjoyed playing golf, watching western movies and spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored. His favorite past-time was taking his grandchildren out for ice cream and baked potatoes.Mr. Holt retired from General Dynamics Corporation as an Engineer. He was an active member of Tacoma Church of God, Johnson City, TN.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Shelby Shelton Holt.Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jeffrey Brian Holt (Traci); grandchildren, Jeffrey Brian Holt II, Madison Grace Holt and Sydney Alexandra Holt; brothers, Oscar Holt (Peggy) and Jerry Holt (Wanda); several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Helen Myers (Norman), Lisa Wilds (Bill); brothers-in-law, Frank Shelton (Sue), Bob Shelton and Mark Shelton.The family will receive friends Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 1:30-2:00 pm at Cedar Creek Church of God, 2800 Cedar Creek Road, Greeneville, TN 37743. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. L. Dwayne Pierce and Rev. Brice Casey officiating.The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Emily Campbell and the I.C.U nursing staff at Johnson City Medical Center for their compassionate care of Ronald.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cedar Creek Church of God, Greeneville, TN.The care of Ronald M. Holt and his family has been entrusted to the staff of Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services, Kingsport.
