Sherry M. Weaver, 95, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab. She was born July 27, 1924, to the late John and Marye Croslin McLellan.Sherry was an advertising specialist for many years having worked at the Kingsport Times News and retiring from WKPT. She attended UT, Knoxville where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and was crowned “Sweetheart” of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.She was a founder of the Kingsport Women’s Club that evolved into the Junior League of Kingsport. She was also a member of The Black Thorn Club.Sherry was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was active in the Food Pantry ministry.For forty years she volunteered on W3 at Holston Valley Medical Center where she was affectionately known as the “Peach Tea Lady.” In 2016, she received the Celia Ring Award in recognition of valuable contributions to Holston Valley Medical Center.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phil J. Weaver; daughter, Patte C. Weaver; step-mother, Dora Murr McLellan; brother, John S. McLellan, Jr.Those left to cherish her memory are her step-brothers, Charles Murr McLellan and Robert Perley McLellan; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of the Resurrection.
