Sherry M. Weaver, 95, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab. She was born July 27, 1924, to the late John and Marye Croslin McLellan.Sherry was an advertising specialist for many years having worked at the Kingsport Times News and retiring from WKPT. She attended UT, Knoxville where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and was crowned “Sweetheart” of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.She was a founder of the Kingsport Women’s Club that evolved into the Junior League of Kingsport. She was also a member of The Black Thorn Club.Sherry was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was active in the Food Pantry ministry.For forty years she volunteered on W3 at Holston Valley Medical Center where she was affectionately known as the “Peach Tea Lady.” In 2016, she received the Celia Ring Award in recognition of valuable contributions to Holston Valley Medical Center.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phil J. Weaver; daughter, Patte C. Weaver; step-mother, Dora Murr McLellan; brother, John S. McLellan, Jr.Those left to cherish her memory are her step-brothers, Charles Murr McLellan and Robert Perley McLellan; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of the Resurrection. For years I worked along side Sherry as a hospital volunteer. My efforts paled in contrast to her enthusiasm and dedication. I was in charge of printing copies of her peach tea recipe - on peach-colored paper - so she could distributed them among the patients. I have fond memories of tales of her beloved dog, Doogie. Few people impacted as many people as did Sherry. She will be missed.
Sherry was my Monday night voice of wisdom(phone calls & visits) & a second mother to me. Her humor, sarcasm & twinkle in her eyes were delightful! She also loved & cared deeply & was always an encourager & helper. Rest in peace sweet friend.
I am a nurse that helped take care of Sherry at Churchill Health Care and Rehab. I loved this sweet lady so much. She always made my day. We would talk about the Tennessee vols football games and how bad they was doing but that we still loved our vols no matter what. She was a bright shining star in my life that I will never forget. I want you all to know what a privilege it was to know and love this sweet soul.
I was a CNA at Church Hill and Mrs. Weaver always made my day every time I was at work she always had to have her 2 cups of hot strong coffee every morning she was the sunshine at Church Hill I will dearly miss her but she always told me she missed her husband and now she is at peace with him my god bless all her family may this red candle remind everyone how dear she was and her beautiful red lipstick she always wore
Sherry was my Mom, Bobbye Jo Salley’s roommate at Church Hill Healthcare. She was simply a blessing to my mother. She treated her with such kindness & respect. Sherry would often tell me she was Moms charge nurse & I believed it. I loved her sense of humor. I am so grateful she was apart of our life. I am sure they have renewed their friendship in Heaven. I miss them both so much.
I met Sherry through my cousin Bobbye Jo Salley, her roomate at Church Hill Lifecare.
We quickly became friends. She was a remarkable lady,a joy to be around. God blessed me by sending Sherry into my life.I loved her dearly and will miss her sweet smile and that wonderful sense of humor. May God bless her family and friends.

I met Ms. Sherry at a book signing I was doing with a friend one weekend several Christmas seasons ago, and I was so taken by her charm and feisty spirit. I am not at all surprised that she lived such a long life. I know she will be missed by those close to her.
